Abstract

The study explores Ayesha Baqir’s Beyond the Fields through the lens of postcolonial approach of Subalternism in the feminist perspective in which violence against women and patriarchy is portrayed. This study examines the pain, grief and suffering of female character in the work; the way female character Tara dehumanized and victimized. The research framework methodologically based on   the Spivak’s postcolonial feminist lens of Subaltern Speak. This study mainly analyzes the male dominance and patriarchal perspectives that exploit and create hurdles for women. This study finds violence, pain and suffering of women which gives Spivak’s concept of “Othering” in which male dominance and Patriarchy is highlighted. This play depicts the harsh realities of the society where women are being raped and her rights marginalized.
